Milton, MA - The Curry Men's Hockey team continued to make program history, as they defeated #9 Hamilton on Saturday 4-1 to move on to the Frozen Four. The Colonels have now won 17 straight games, and are 25-3-0 on the season, while Hamilton sees their season end at 21-7-1.
The Continentals controlled the first period, outshooting the Colonels 18-7, and winning 23 of the 32 faceoffs. But the Colonels were able to keep them off the board with stellar defensive play. Early in the second period the Colonels took advantage of a turnover by Hamilton, and Taurin Haddon-Harris sent the sold out Curry crowd into excitement, as he put the Colonels up 1-0 two minutes into the second period. The lead was then doubled five minutes later, this time on a nice move from Nolan McDonough. The score was 2-0 after two periods. The Continentals made things interesting by scoring a goal just a minute into the final period, but the Colonels would get another goal with seven minutes left to get some breathing room. It was Taurin Haddon-Harris with his second goal of the game. Grady Friedman then added an empty net goal, sending the home crowd happy with a 4-1 win.
Despite the first period, the shot attempts were relatively even, with Hamilton holding a slight 38-36 edge. They would continue to dominate the faceoff circle, though, as the Continentals took 47 of the 73 draws.
Colonels goalie Shane Soderwall picked up his 24th win of the season, making 37 saves on 38 shots.
Up Next - The Colonels will advance to play #4 Utica in the Frozen Four next Friday. The location of the Frozen Four is TBA.
