#13 Men’s Ice Hockey Overcomes 2-0 Deficit to Defeat #7 Endicott

CANTON, Mass. - The #13 ranked Curry College men's ice hockey team overcame a 2-0 deficit to defeat #7 Endicott College in Commonwealth Coast Conference action Friday night at the Canton Ice House.

With the win, the Colonels improve to 1-0-1 on the young season and pick up their first CCC victory.

The game-winner was scored with only 1:44 remaining in regulation. Graduate student Austan Bellefeuille (Framingham, Mass.) and sophomore Manny Carbal (Providence, R.I.) connected for the second time in the game with Bellefeuille sending the puck up to Carbal who snuck the puck past the goalie on a fast break to give Curry its first lead of the night.

The Colonels first scored late in the second period when they earned possession of the puck off a faceoff win by senior George Vonakis (Abingdon, Md.). Sophomore Jesse Galassi (Lockport, N.Y.) then ripped a shot on goal that ricocheted off the goalie and found its way to sophomore Taurin Haddon-Harris (Boca Raton, Fla.) who scored his first goal of the season to cut the Endicott lead to 2-1 heading into the final period.

Curry evened the score at 2-2 early in the third period when graduate student Bellefeuille and sophomore Cabral pushed the puck into Endicott territory on a fast break. Carbal took a shot that bounced off the goalie, allowing Bellefeuille to finish the scoring play and tie the game.

Senior Roland Polasek (Bor, Czech Republic) played the entire game in net for the Colonels, making 24 saves in the win.

The Colonels look to continue their success with a road rematch against Endicott College on Saturday (11/4) at 5 p.m.
