Three from Men's Ice Hockey Earn AHCA All-America Honors

BEVERLY, Mass. – Three Curry College men’s ice hockey student-athletes have been named to the 2022-23 CCM Hockey/American Hockey Coaches Association Division II-III Men’s All-American Hockey Teams.

The All-American Hockey Teams recognize the top 31 players in the NCAA Division II and Division III levels who have shown tremendous success among their teammates.

Graduate netminder Reid Cooper (Corman Park, Saskatchewan) and senior defenseman Nick Favaro (Vaughan, Ontario) were named to the East All-American Second team. Junior forward Timmy Kent (Parkland, Fla.) was named to the East All-American Third Team.

Cooper appeared in 27 games for the Colonels this past season with a stellar 505 saves with a save percentage of .922 and goals against average of 1.92 on the season. Cooper was named Commonwealth Coast Conference's Goaltender and Co-Player of the Year, and was named to the CCC All-Conference First Team. He was named CCC Goaltender of the Week on two occasions.

Favaro played in all 29 games for the Colonels in his senior season, scoring eight goals and 25 assists for 33 points from the blue line on the year. Favaro scored one goal in Curry’s CCC Semifinal victory over the University of New England, lifting the Colonels to their first CCC Championship appearance. Favaro was named to the CCC All-Conference First Team.

Kent appeared in 23 games for the Colonels, and led the team with 15 goals on the season along with 20 assists, good for 35 points. Kent was named to the CCC All-Conference First Team along with one CCC Player of the Week Award.

These are the first AHCA Division II-III Men’s All-American Hockey Team selections for all three players. Their efforts this season helped Curry climb as high as fifth in the USCHO.com Division III poll during the season, and helped the team advance to the Quarterfinals of the NCAA Division III Tournament.
