#15 Colonels Play Amherst College to 1-1 Draw

AMHERST, Mass. - The Curry College Men's Ice Hockey team tied non-conference opponent Amherst College Tuesday evening. 

With the tie on the road, the Colonels move forward with a 10-3-2 record overall this season and stay at 8-2-1 in the Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC). With the tie on home ice, Amherst's record improves to 5-6-2. 

The Colonels grabbed an early lead only 2:20 minutes into the contest. Curry's Eelis Laaksonen (Oulu, Finland) found the back of the net with an assist from senior forward Tarek Paranica (Grand Forks, N.D.). Both sides tallied 12 shots through the first 20 minutes of play with Curry holding the lead with the sole goal early in the period. 

The second period of the night saw no scoring from either side. The hosts rattled the frame, outshooting the visiting Colonels 13-8 in the second. 

Amherst's Mitchell Shults netted a shot past Curry's Reid Cooper (Corman Park, Sask.) for the final goal of the matchup, squaring the contest at one goal each.

The allotted five-minute overtime period saw four shots from the visiting Colonels, to no avail. With no winner determined following regulation, the non-conference matchup concluded as a 1-1 tie in Amherst, Mass. 

Curry's Reid Cooper saw 40 shots between the pipes in the night's game, saving 39. 

Mammoth's goaltender Dan Dachille saved 30 shots on 31 attempts through the contest.

The Colonels get back out on the ice Friday as they host U. of New England at the Canton Ice House at 7 PM.
