NEWPORT, R.I. - The #12 Curry College men's ice hockey team dropped a 5-2 Commonwealth Coast Conference decision to Salve Regina University Saturday evening at St. George's School.

With the loss, Curry suffers its second consecutive defeat, falling to 8-2-1 overall on the season and 6-2-1 in the CCC.

Colonel junior Timmy Kent (Parkland, Fla.) opened the scoring on the evening, netting his CCC-leading 10th goal of the season at the 4:22 mark of the first period. The power play goal was assisted by former Seahawk Daniel Eruzione (Winthrop, Mass.) and defenseman Kalle Sundell (Helsinki, Finland).

Senior Michael Snow (Medford, Mass.) also found the back of the net on the power play in the first period, however Salve Regina scored a trio of tallies in the period and the hosts took a 3-2 lead into the first intermission.

The Seahawks scored twice in 20 seconds early in the second period to go ahead 5-2, a score that would hold up right through the final horn. Curry had a five-minute major power play immediately following Salve Regina's fifth goal, but was unable to capitalize and pull the game closer, which proved to be the game's turning point.

Sophomore goaltender Oscar Wahlgren (Molndal, Sweden) took the loss between the pipes for Curry in his first collegiate start. Wahlgren made 19 saves in the defeat.

Next up, Curry heads to the holiday break, and will return to action on Tuesday, January 4 with a road matchup against Amherst College.
