#13 Men's Ice Hockey Suffers First Defeat of Season

BEVERLY, Mass. - The #13 Curry College men's ice hockey team dropped a 5-2 decision to #8 Endicott College on Saturday afternoon at Raymond J. Bourque Arena in Commonwealth Coast Conference action.

With the loss, Curry sees its unbeaten season come to a close, dropping to 8-1-1 overall on the season and 6-1-1 in the CCC.

Curry got on the board first less than five minutes into the contest when junior Mark Zhukov (St. Petersburg, Russia) found the net for his fourth goal of the season, coming off an assist from Timmy Kent (Parkland, Fla.).

The 1-0 score held through the first period, but it took Endicott just 10 seconds in the second period to tie the game. The Gulls would score twice in the period to take a 2-1 lead into the third.

The Colonels drew the game level 3:26 into the third on a Kent tally, but that would be the end of Curry's offense of the day. Endicott scored three times in the final 11 minutes of the contest, including an empty-netter, to close out the 5-2 final.

Curry sophomore netminder Roland Polasek (Karlovy Vary, Czech Republic) turned aside 26 Endicott shots to take the loss on the afternoon.

The Colonels will be back in action on the road next Saturday night with a CCC matchup against Salve Regina scheduled for 7 p.m.
