Manastersky Steps Down, Accepts Assistant Coaching Position at Union College (N.Y.)

MILTON, Mass. – Curry College head men's ice hockey coach TJ Manastersky has announced he is stepping down and has accepted an assistant coaching position at Union College (N.Y.), a member of NCAA Division I and ECAC Hockey.

Named the 10th men's ice hockey head coach at Curry College on August 20, 2012, Manastersky guided the Colonels to a 113-82-19 record over the past nine seasons.

"I am fortunate that I was given a chance by President Quigley and Athletic Director Vinnie Eruzione to lead the Curry Hockey program," Manastersky said. "I will forever be grateful to them. I will cherish the relationships with the student-athletes I had the privilege of coaching and the wonderful people in the campus community. I'm humbled to have had an opportunity to serve Curry College and I will miss it."

In his nine seasons at the helm in Milton, Manastersky, the 2018-19 Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) Coach of the Year, led the Colonels to seven postseason appearances, including three trips to the ECAC Northeast/CCC Semifinals. In his final full season, he guided Curry to a 17-6-3 overall record (12-4-2 CCC). On November 5, the team made an appearance in the United States College Hockey Online (USCHO) Poll at No. 14 following a season-opening weekend where he guided the Colonels to victories over two ranked teams in UMass Boston and Babson. Later that season, Manastersky went on to secure his 100th career victory with an 8-1 win over Nichols College on November 23.

Manastersky has also helped land 19 student-athletes on All-Conference Teams. In addition, his 2019-20 team received the CCC Sportsmanship Award. Manastersky pioneered and expanded international recruiting st Curry to include student-athletes from 10 countries.

Off the ice, Curry has had 30 AHCA All-American Scholars since 2019, the most of any NCAA college hockey program, in addition to eight Curry Scholar-Athlete of the Year awards and five class valedictorians.

" TJ has done a great job here at Curry College," said Eruzione. "His dedication and passion, not only for the sport of ice hockey, but for the immediate and future success of his ice hockey student-athletes was outstanding. His teams excelled not only on the ice, but just as importantly off the ice, in the community, and in the classroom.  I wish TJ nothing but success as he moves on in his professional and personal life."

A national search will begin immediately for a new men's ice hockey coach.
