CANTON, Mass. – The Curry College men's ice hockey team topped visiting Nichols College in a 4-1 final on Friday night at the Canton Ice House in Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) action. The win moves the Colonels to 6-1-0 overall (4-1-0 CCC) while the Bison slip to 0-7-0 (0-5-0 CCC).

Curry capitalized on the first Nichols penalty as sophomore Nick Magill-Diaz (Troy, Mich.) sent a pass over to classmate Mic Curran (Arlington, Mass.) on the wing. Curran fired a shot and was able to put it past sophomore goaltender Brett Epp (Edmonton, Alberta) just 19 seconds into the power-play go give the Colonels the 1-0 lead. A secondary assist was also given to sophomore Alex Ochterbeck (Dallas, Texas). Curry added to its lead later in the first frame after junior Joseph Thielen (Huntington Beach, Calif.) set up a perfect opportunity for junior Eetu Selanne (Coto de Caza, Calif.). Thielen put a shot on net, which was initially saved by Epp. The puck ricocheted off Epp and right to Selanne with a wide-open net as the junior tallied his first career goal to give Curry the 2-0 advantage, converting on its second power-play of the night. The assists were awarded to Thielen and sophomore Kalle Sundell (Helsinki, Finland). 

The Colonels would put the game away in the final period, tallying two goals. Senior captain Jordan Williamson (Okotoks, Alberta) contributed a goal by way of a helper from senior assistant captain Billy Vizzo (Shelton, Conn.) and junior Matthew Henderson (Scarborough, Maine) at 9:15 of the third. The Bison got on the scoreboard with a goal from sophomore Justin Perron (Thetford Mines, Quebec) with 1:53 to go in regulation. Curry wasn't finished as Curran found the back of an empty net with 47 ticks left. The assists on the goal were award to Ochterbeck and junior Viktor Jansson (Stockholm, Sweden) as the Colonels came away with the 4-1 triumph.  

Curry held a 32-28 advantage in shots for the contest. The Colonels converted two of its four power-play opportunities while Nichols went 0-for-3.

Senior assistant captain Justin Ketola (Cloquet, Minn.) made 27 stops in between the pipes for Curry. Epp registered 28 saves on the night in the setback.

The two teams will meet again tomorrow, Saturday, November 23 at Levy Rink in Harrisville, R.I. Puck drop is set for 7:40 p.m.
