After neither team scored in the second period, Johnson & Wales got an insurance goal with just five minutes left in the game. Ben Brouillard (Somerset, Mass.) put back the rebound of Nicholas Gray's (Stafford, Va.) shot for his seventh goal of the year.

The Colonels had a 32-24 advantage in shots but JWU goalie Joey Ballmer (Kalamazoo, Mich.) turned away all 32 shots he faced for his third shutout of the season. His Curry counterpart Sinclair stopped 22-of-24 shots. The Wildcats were 1-2 on the power play while the Colonels failed two score on their two power play opportunities.
