Hockey Falls to No. 9/10 Nationally-Ranked Endicott 6-4 in CCC Play

MILTON, Mass. – The Curry College men's hockey team lost to No. 9/10 nationally ranked Endicott, 6-4, in Commonwealth Coast Conference action on Saturday night at the Max Ulin Rink in Milton, Mass. The loss drops the Colonels to 12-8-2 overall and 9-4-2 in the CCC.  With the win the Gulls improve to 17-3-2 on the season and 10-3-1 in the CCC.

Junior Jarret Kup (Rosseau, Ontario) put Curry on the scoreboard first to start the contest at the 8:44 mark.  Kup took a slap shot just over the blueline that sailed over the shoulder of the Gulls' junior netminder Kevin Aldridge (Birgmingham, Mich.).  Kup was setup by sophomore Lionel Mauron (Lausanne, Switzerland) and senior Tyler Vankleef (Dundas, Ontario).  Endicott answered with back-to-back goals to take over the lead heading into the second period.  The Gulls first came off the stick of sophomore Logan Day (Seminole, Fla.) with assists from sophomores Tommy Besinger (Milton, Mass.) and Ross Olsson (Billerica, Mass.).  Endicott freshman Jack Kilty (Medway, Mass.) gave his team the 2-1 advantage just 38 seconds later.  Sophomore Joseph Slovak (North Attleboro, Mass.) was credited with the assist.

The Colonels tied the match early on in the second before the Gulls tallied four straight to take a commanding 6-2 lead headed into the second intermission.  Junior Shane Tracy (Bow, N.H.) buried his first of two on the night after he tipped the puck into the back of the net off a pass from sophomore Mack Heisinger (Winnipeg, Manitoba).  Endicott received tallies from Kilty, Bessinger, sophomore Josh Bowes (Edmonton, Alberta) and Jason Kalinowski (Stamford, Conn.) during the scoring frenzy.  Three of the scores were unassisted.  Bessinger was assisted by sophomore Cam Bleck (Lake Forest, Ill.).

Despite netting a pair of goals in the third and shutting out the Gulls, the Colonels fell short of a victory.  Junior Adam Valadao (Ajax, Ontario) ripped one past the glove of Aldridge just 19 seconds into the final frame.  Tracy won the face-off in Curry's offensive zone and sent the puck to Valadao to earn the helper.  Tracy followed Valadao by notching his second and his team's final score of the game at 7:51.  Heisinger and senior Sean Nelson (Brighton, Mich.) were credited with the assists.

The Colonels senior goaltender Brett Sinclair (St. Catharines, Ontario) stopped 29 shots in the loss.  Aldridge made 36 saves in the win for the Gulls.

Curry went 3-for-10 with the extra-man advantage while Endicott was 3-for-6.  The Colonels outshot the Gulls, 40-35.

Curry is next in action when they host the University of New England on Thursday, February 16 at 6:45 p.m.  Endicott travels to Western New England University also on Thursday, February 16 at 7:10 p.m.
