Hockey Battles Visiting Babson College to a 1-0 Overtime Victory

MILTON, Mass. – The Curry College men's hockey team battled Babson College to a 1-0 overtime win Thursday evening at the Max Ulin Rink.  With the win the Colonels improve to 6-3-1 overall.  The loss drops the Beavers to 7-5-1 on the season.

Junior Jake Heisinger (Winnipeg, Manitoba) notched the game-winning goal just 41 seconds into overtime.  Curry won the opening face-off in OT, taken by sophomore Lionel Mauron (Lausanne, Switzerland).  Just seconds later, Babson gained control of the puck after intercepting a Colonel pass attempt.  The Beavers were able to get a shot off from senior Michael Phillips (Richmond Heights, Ohio) but it went wide.  The Colonels retrieved the miss shot giving them possession of the puck.  They weren't in their offensive zone too long before Mauron sent a pass to a wide open Heisinger who one-timed it past the glove of Babson's sophomore netminder Matt Pompa (Palm City, Fla.).

Shots were pretty even through each period with both goaltenders playing solid between the pipes.  Curry's senior netminder Brett Sinclair (St. Catharines, Ontario) was especially strong as he stopped all 21 shots he faced to earn the shutout victory.

The Beavers held a one shot advantage over the Colonels at 21-20.  Neither team was successful on the power-play as they were both 0-2.

Sinclair made 21 saves in net for the win while Pompa stopped 19 in the loss.

Curry is back in action on Saturday, December 10 as they travel to Manhattanville College for a 7:00 p.m. start.
