Seventeen Student-Athletes Named to ECAC Northeast All-Academic Hockey Team

DANBURY, Conn. – The Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Northeast Hockey League announced its All-Academic Team on Monday. A total of 110 student-athletes from all eight institutions earned the distinction. Johnson & Wales University placed 21 student-athletes on the All-Academic Team, the most honorees from any single institution.

Curry College seniors Chris Mason (Monrovia, Calif.), Derek Mohney (Amherst, N.Y.), Jordan Reed (Ajax, Ont.) and Braeden Ruud (Vermillon, Alberta), juniors Shane Harrington (Mansfield, Mass.), Ryan Gay (Nesconset, N.Y.) and Brian White (Santa Ana, Calif.) and sophomores Jake Heisinger (Winnipeg, Manitoba), Tyler Vankleef (Dundas, Ontario), James Murphy (Malden, Mass.), Sean Nelson (Brighton, Mich.), Joe Scarfo (Winthrop, Mass.), Mike Vallescuro (Woodbridge, Ontario), Justin Nice (Aurora, Ontario), Mike Apreda (Newmarket, Ontario), Brett Sinclair (St. Catherines, Ontario) and Ellery O'Hara (Toronto, Ontario) were all named to the team.

In order to be eligible for the All-Academic Team, student-athletes must carry a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or higher and have completed at least one full year at their current institution.
