Fourth-Seeded Hockey to Host #5 Wentworth in an ECAC Northeast Quarterfinals Match-Up

DANBURY, Conn. – The Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) announced today the seedings for the 2015 ECAC Northeast Hockey Tournament. For the second consecutive season, Nichols College claimed the ECAC Northeast Hockey Regular Season Championship and will enter the league tournament as the top seed. The Bison, who finished the regular season with a 19-3-3 record, sit atop a six-team field that will begin opening round play on Satur day evening and will crown a conference champion on Saturday, March 7.

The first quarterfinal matchup on Saturday will feature fourth-seeded Curry against fifth-seeded Wentworth. The Colonels enter the postseason on a five-game winning-streak, which includes a 3-0 victory over the Leopards a week ago. Curry was led this season by the conference's leading-scorer, senior Jordan Reed (Ajax, Ontario).  The reigning Northeast Player of the Week tallied 21 goals in 23 games this season, including six multi-goal performances. Reed was the catalyst of a Curry offense that ranked second in the league in goals scored with 78.

Wentworth, which lost in last season's conference championship game, completed the year with an 11-11-3 overall record and a 6-6-2 mark against Northeast opponents. The Leopards had three players notch eight goals this season in freshman Chris Sattler (East Longmeadow, Mass.), freshman Erik Andersson (Madison, N.J.), and senior Mike Domsodi (Ki! rk land, Quebec). Domsodi also handed out a team-high 13 assists.

In addition to the 3-0 decision won by Curry on February 18, the Leopards and Colonels played to a 1-1 draw on November 22.

The 2015 Northeast Championship will kick off Saturday evening, as Curry and Johnson & Wales will host quarterfinal matchups. The winners of the first round will advance to the semifinals on Wednesday, March 4. The lowest advancing seed will travel to take on Nichols, while the highest remaining team will head to Salve Regina. The semifinal winners will meet on Saturday, March 7 on the home ice of the highest remaining seed.
