Nelson Nets Two Goals as Hockey Shuts Out Becker, 2-0

MARLBOROUGH, Mass.- Curry College defeated Becker College 2-0 in ECAC Northeast men's ice hockey action Wednesday evening at the New England Sports Center. The win ups the Colonels record to7-9-2 (3-4 ECAC), while the Ice Hawks record falls to 1-14-2 (0-5-2 ECAC).

With 4:13 remaining in the second period, Curry  freshman Sean Nelson (Brighton, Mich.) capitalized on a two man advantage when he collected a loose puck in from of the Becker net, tipping it past Gregg Hussey (Medford, Mass.) for the first goal of the game.

The Colonels secured the win 15:47 into the third period when Tyler Vankeelf (Dundas, Ont.) fed Sean Nelson on a two on one, beating Hussey through the five hole to make the score 2-0.

Hussey made 35 stops for the Ice Hawks, while freshman Brett Sinclair (St. Catharines, Ont.) turned away 33 shots to earn his first collegiate shutout .

Both teams return to the ice on Saturday, February 1, with Becker hosting ECAC Northeast rival Nichols College at 5:30 p.m. Curry will travels to Western New England for 4:40 p.m. tilt with the Golden Bears. (Game Recap Courtesy of Becker Sports Information)
