WENHAM, Mass. - Curry College was defeated 70-57 by Gordon College in a Conference of New England men's basketball game Tuesday night at Bennett Center.
With the loss, the Colonels' overall record falls to 2-20, and their conference record drops to 1-14.
Malik Gelinas knocked down his first three of the game to kick off a scoring run for the Colonels that saw Curry take an early 8-2 lead over the home team. From there, the first half went back and forth, with 11 points from Francisco Lopez and 10 from Gelinas, leaving the Colonels trailing 39-36 heading into halftime.
Gordon managed to edge out Curry in the second half as well. Despite three Colonels scoring in double digits in the half (12 from Lopez, 11 from Gelinas, and 10 from Jeremiah Predin), the visitors still fell short of overcoming the Gordon lead.
Lopez knocked down three triples to lead his team with 23 points and nine rebounds, while Gelinas finished with 21 points and three steals on the defensive side of the ball. Predin was effective in all aspects of the game, shooting 6-for-10 from the field to finish with 15 points, six rebounds, three assists, and two steals.
Curry College returns to action on Saturday, February 15th, to host Western New England in a CNE matchup beginning at 2 p.m.
