
MILTON, Mass. - Curry College was defeated 93-76 by the University of New England in a Conference of New England men's basketball game Wednesday afternoon at Dr. Eleanor Meyerhoff Katz Gymnasium.
With the loss, the Colonels' overall record falls to 2-12, and their conference record drops to 1-5.
The Colonels struggled from the field early on, falling behind 19-3 just six minutes into the contest. The Curry offense started to gain traction later in the half, going on a six-point scoring run with a three-pointer by Favour Okeke cutting the Nor'easters' lead to 13. Okeke led the Colonels in scoring in the first with eight points including a pair of three-pointers.
Curry's offense performed marginally better in the second half, scoring 46 points and led once again by Okeke who knocked down three triples in the half. Shawn Charles was another major contributor in the second, going 6-for-7 from the field for 13 points.
Okeke and Charles paced the Colonels' offense with Okeke finishing with a team-high 19 points and six rebounds while Charles had 17 points and seven boards. Damon Folds added 11 coming off the bench while Dekel Cohen Sharon added 10 points and five rebounds in 14 minutes of play.
Curry College returns to action on Saturday, January 18th, for a road CNE matchup against Western New England University beginning at 3 p.m.
