
MILTON, Mass. - Curry College opened the season with an 86-68 loss to Lesley University Tuesday night at Dr. Eleanor Meyerhoff Katz Gymnasium.
With the loss, the Colonels tip off the season with an overall record of 0-1.
Freshman Jaiden Mann (Marietta, Ga.) was the hero of the first half, leading the Colonels with 13 points on 5-for-6 shooting including going a perfect 3-for-3 from behind the three-point line. Mann knocked down his final three of the half with just 13 seconds remaining to leave the home team within one point of the lead (35-34) heading into halftime.
Mann led all players with 22 points on 8-for-11 shooting while also managing team highs in multiple categories with seven rebounds, four assists, three steals, and three blocks. Favour Okeke (East Hartford, Conn.) was another major contributor with 12 points and four rebounds. Shawn Charles (Vero Beach, Fla.) went 2-for-2 from the field with a pair of dunks to go along with five rebounds and three blocked shots.
Next up for Curry College basketball, the Colonels hit the road to play in the Autism Acceptance Classic hosted by Regis College. Their first opponent is scheduled to be Bowdoin on Friday, November 15th, with tip-off at 7 p.m. followed by a 1 p.m. start against Fisher the next day.
