Colonels Stopped Short by Salve Regina

MILTON, Mass. - Curry College Men's Basketball fell to Commonwealth Coast Conference opponent Salve Regina by a final score of 78-66 Saturday afternoon in Katz Gymnasium.

With the loss, the Colonels fall to 4-15 overall this season and 2-10 in the CCC.

The visiting Seahawks dominated in the first half of the CCC matchup, notching 44.8% (30-67) from the field compared to Curry's 39% (23-39). The Seahawks were paced by Mikey Williams who tallied 12 points in the opening half. Curry's Lowelle Torres (Vineland, NJ) marked five points and four rebounds to pace the Colonels through the first 20 minutes.

The Seahawks held a substantial lead until midway through the second half, Shawn Charles (Miami, Fla.) notching a layup to bring the Colonels within six of the visitor's lead (45-39). Jumpers from Lowelle Torres and Jonathan Joel (Cranston, RI) kept Curry in stride with the Seahawks, now trailing 52-46. Despite the Colonels 45 points in the second half compared to Salve's 41, the Seahawks would claim a 78-66 victory on the road over Curry.

The Colonels were led by Lowelle Torres (18 points, 7 rebounds, 5 assists), Angelo Sardegna (16 points), and Jason Romans (11 points).

The Colonels return to the court Wednesday as they travel to face CCC opponent Gordon College at 7:30 PM.
