Men's Basketball Toppled by Endicott

MILTON, Mass. - The Curry College men's basketball team fell short to Endicott College by a final score of 95-63 Saturday afternoon in Commonwealth Coast Conference action at Katz Gymnasium.

With the loss, Curry drops to 2-10 overall on the season and 1-4 in CCC play.

Seven quick points from junior Angelo Sardegna (Tampa, Fla.) helped the Colonels jump out to an early 9-2 lead just 4:04 into the contest, but a well-timed Endicott timeout brought Curry's run to a screeching halt. The Gulls responded to the timeout with a 17-0 run that put them ahead 19-9, which Curry could never overcome.

The Colonels would cut the deficit back down to as few as five points in the first half, but Endicott took a 46-35 advantage into halftime. Sophomore Frankie Santiago (New Britain, Conn.) led the Colonels with 13 first half points.

The second half was all Endicott, as the visitors pulled away to claim their sixth win of the season. The Gulls outpaced Curry 49-28 in the second half.

Santiago was the game's leading scorer, notching a season-high 21 points in the defeat for Curry. Classmate Lowelle Torres (Vineland, N.J.) was the only other Colonel in double figures, recording 14 points.

Curry will be back in action on Monday afternoon, hosting the University of New England in a rescheduled game at 4 p.m. from Katz Gymnasium.
