Wentworth led by as many as 11 in the first half following a three-pointer by freshman Conor Rubenskas (Bridgewater, Mass.) to make the score 19-8 with 10:53 to go. Curry hung around for the remainder of the stanza, cutting the deficit to five, 25-20, on a layup by senior Jared Thorpe-Johnson (Dorchester, Mass.). The margin quickly went back to 10 with a 5-0 run on a layup by junior Kyle Henseler (Coventry, R.I.) and a triple from Hernandez. The Colonels had a mini-run of their own, a 5-0 spurt to pull within five, 30-25, at the 2:13 mark. The Leopards entered the intermission with a 33-29 advantage.

After Wentworth built another 10-point in the opening minutes of the second half, it would eventually be trimmed to two thanks to an 11-3 run, capped off by a made free throw from Stewart to make the score 47-45, with 10:55 left in regulation.
