Men's & Women's Basketball Teams Take Part in the Dan Breen Memorial 5K Red Shoe Run/Walk

MILTON, Mass. - On Saturday, September 12th, the Curry College Men's and Women's Basketball Teams took part in The Dan Breen Memorial 5K Red Shoe Run/Walk. Fourteen men's basketball student-athletes and four women's basketball student-athletes took part in the event, volunteering to run all three water stations as well as aiding in set up and clean up for the event.

The Red Shoe Run is a 5K through historic Milton, Mass. in honor of Dan Breen, a beloved friend to many. Dan's love for his family, friends, team members, and faith was embraced and appreciated by all who met him. An avid rugby player, a devoted student at St. Anselm's College, a dedicated team member of the Emergency Department at Beth Israel Deaconess-Milton Hospital and so much more, Dan defined the phrase "All-American." As a team member in the Emergency Department, Dan was loved by all those around him. His enthusiasm and humor is simply irreplaceable, and we will never forget, his "awful red shoes" that only he loved.

"The players really enjoyed being part of such a special event," said Colonels' Head Men's Basketball Coach Matt LeVangie. "We look forward to being part of it again next year."
