Men's Basketball Notches 79-66 Win Against Visiting UNE
MILTON, Mass. - Sophomore forward Sedale Jones (Pittsfield, MA) connected on 10 of 15 shots from the field, including five three-pointers, leading Curry past the University of New England, 79-66, in The Commonwealth Coast Conference (TCCC) men’s basketball action Tuesday night in Milton.  With the win, the Colonels improved to 4-9 overall and 2-0 in the TCCC. The Nor’easters fell to 2-12 overall and 0-2 in conference play.

Curry’s biggest lead of the first half (32-18) came after a free throw shot by freshman guard Tim Farrell (Hanson, MA). A three-pointer by Jones at the buzzer gave the Colonels a 35-23 advantage at intermission.

Curry took its biggest lead of the second period (62-34) after a layup with a foul and a made free throw by Jones with 9:49 remaining in regulation. With 4:19 remaining in the second frame, UNE cut the deficit to 10 (64-54) after a layup by junior forward Ryan Knotek (Saratoga Springs, NY), but the Colonels maintained their lead throughout the remainder of the game.

Jones poured in a game-high 29 points, while junior forward Chris Brown (Boston, MA) contributed 11. Jones racked up a double-double with a game-high 10 rebounds.

Junior guard Marcus Winn (Austin, TX) led the Nor’easters with a team-high 20 points. Senior guard Chas Rentrope (Peoria, AZ) added 18, and also pulled down a team-high eight rebounds.

Curry returns to action on January 15, traveling to Regis College for a 3:00 p.m. contest.
