Junior running back Montie Quinn (Goose Creek, S.C.) was not only named Conference of New England Offensive Player of the Week for his historic performance in the Colonels' 47-41 win over Nichols, but he also earned the New England Football Writers Week 10 Gold Helmet Award and was named to the D3Football.com Team of the Week.
While this is Quinn's first CNE Player of the Week award this season, he earned the honor three times last year. This is also his second D3Football.Com Team of the Week nomination of the season (three times last year) and his first time winning the Gold Helmet Award.
On Saturday, Quinn rushed 27 times for 381 yards, shattering Raphael Zammit's previous Curry College single-game rushing record of 319 yards, set in 2003. His performance is also the most yards by a running back in a single game this season. Additionally, the game marked his third straight with at least 258 rushing yards.
Quinn leads all of Division III in rushing yards with 1,483 on the season and in yards per game with an average of 164.8 on a total of 208 attempts. Quinn has found the endzone 12 times so far this season, including four times in the win against Nichols, good for 18th among all players in Divison III.
The powerhouse in the backfield looks to continue his success into the final game of the season against Endicott on Saturday, November 16th. Kick-off is a noon at Walter M. Katz Field
