
NEWPORT, R.I. - Curry College kicked off the 2024 football season with a non-conference loss to Salve Regina Friday night at Toppa Field.
With the loss, the Colonels fall to an overall record of 0-1 to open up competition.
After going down by a touchdown, the Colonels put together a nine-play, 68-yard drive that ended with a five-yard touchdown rush by Colin Ridley (Peabody, Mass.). Omar Aboutoui ( Methuen, Mass.) knocked down the extra point to tie the game at 7-7 with 2:29 remaining in the first half.
Aboutoui hit a 34-yard field goal with 4:38 left in the third to complete an eight-play, 31-yard drive and cut the Salve Regina lead to four (14-10)
Montie Quinn (Goose Creek, S.C.) led the Colonels' offense, rushing 31 times for 169 yards, including a long of 19 yards for an average of five yards per carry.
Curry College hosts their home opener against #16 Hardin-Simmons on Saturday, September 14th beginning at noon.
