Offensive Rookie of the Year Quinn Highlights Football All-CCC Honors

BIDDEFORD, Maine - Colonel freshman Montie Quinn (Goose Creek, S.C.) was named the Commonwealth Coast Conference Offensive Rookie of the Year on Tuesday morning, highlighting Curry College football's All-Conference honors.

Quinn also received First Team All-Conference honors at the running back position. Joining him on the First Team was senior wide receiver Gabe DeSouza (Everett, Mass.), while offensive lineman Josias Roman (Brockton, Mass.), defensive linemen Blake Schader (Assonet, Mass.) and Max Ackerman (Nashua, N.H.), and linebacker Michael Sims (Baltic, Conn.) all received Second Team All-Conference nods.

Quinn led the CCC in nearly every rushing category in his first season of collegiate football. He entered Curry as a wide receiver, but was the Colonels' primary running back by week two. He finished the season with a league-best 1,165 rushing yards and 14 rushing touchdowns, while also catching 19 passes out of the backfield for 125 yards. Quinn earned CCC Offensive Rookie of the Week an astouding six times, while also earning Offensive Player of the Week twice.

DeSouza finished his final season as a Colonel as the CCC's leader in receiving touchdowns with eight, and ranked second with 53 receptions. His 638 receiving yards was good for fourth in the CCC.

Roman, a graduate offensive tackle, earned his first All-Conference selection on Tuesday. He is the first Colonel offensive lineman to earn All-CCC recognition since Chris Girouard in 2017.

Schader and Ackerman were Curry's top two tacklers this season among defensive linemen, finishing with 49 and 46 respectively. Schader ranked third in the conference with eight sacks, while also notching two forced fumbles and three fumble recoveries. Ackerman recorded two and a half sacks and 5.5 tackles for loss.

Rounding out the Curry All-Conference honorees was Sims, the team's leading tackler in 2022. He finished the season with 86 tackles, ranking sixth in the CCC. Of his 86 tackles, 48 were solo, seven were for loss, and one was a sack. He also forced two fumbles, intercepted a pass, and blocked a kick on the year.

The All-Conference honor is the second of DeSouza's career, after he was named to the Second Team last season. Quinn, Roman, Schader, Ackerman, and Sims are all first-time honorees.
