Football Closes Out Season With Loss to Nichols

DUDLEY, Mass. - Curry College Football fell to Commonwealth Coast Conference opponent Endicott College Saturday afternoon on Walter M. Katz Field.

With the loss, the Colonels close out their season with an overall record of 3-7 overall and 1-5 in the CCC.

The Colonels opened up scoring in the afternoon conference bout on a Bailey Smith (Wilmington, Mass.) scoop-and-score, recovering a fumble forced by Michael Sims (Baltic, Conn.) and taking it 55 yards to score. Nichols College notched their first points on the board on a Kyle Yannucci 25-yard field goal with 10:26 remaining in the quarter. Curry College marked their second touchdown of the afternoon on a Justin Mullaney (Danvers, Mass.) one-yard dash to cap an eight-play 48-yard drive.

The hosting Bison brought the score within four as Xavier Powell completed a pass to Hunter Ferreira with 10:14 remaining in the half. Just 49 seconds later, Curry College would push its lead to 21-10 on a Montie Quinn (Goose Creek, S.C.) 50-yard rush. Nichols' Ferreira would mark his second score of the afternoon to bring the hosts within four points of the Colonels. As time expired in the first half, Nichols' freshman kicker Kyle Yannucci delivered a 31-yard field goal to bring the score within one of the leading Colonels.

The second half saw a dominant Bison side, Nichols College marking four touchdowns to Curry's one. 

Curry freshman receiver Matthew Bowen (Mashpee, Mass.) notched the final Colonels touchdown of the afternoon, capping off a six-play, 71-yard drive with a 22-yard reception in the endzone. The hosting Nichols College Bison would close out the CCC matchup with a final score of 28-49.

Curry's Matthew Bowen led the Colonels offensively on the day, notching one touchdown with 57 yards on 6 receptions. Freshman running back Montie Quinn rushed for 187 yards on 26 carries, with a long of 50 yards, and a touchdown. Curry starting quarterback Justin Mullaney went 23-of-41 through the air for 252 yards and one touchdown.

Senior Tahg Coakley (Danvers, Mass.) was Curry's leader defensively, finishing with 18 total tackles (seven solo).
