Alumni Spotlight - Andrew Lipof '15, Football

MILTON, Mass. – Andrew Lipof '15 (Providence, R.I.) is the first to be featured in our Alumni Spotlight series. He was a Communication major with a minor in Corporate Communication and a member of the Curry College football program.

Lipof also served as the Special Assistant to the Head Coach during the 2014 season.

He is the founder and CEO of GetGas Boston, a mobile application that does on-demand fueling. The company is essentially Uber for gasoline. They serve fleets and office parks with multiple vehicles needing gasoline. Vehicles are fueled up through the mobile application and customers receive real-time notifications to their email and phone.

The company has grown from one truck to five and has served some major clients such as Amazon, Encore Casino, FedEx, and more. Additionally, GetGas Boston has served professional athletes.

How did being a student-athlete at Curry assist in preparing you for your career? The football program and Coach Bandini pushed me to start my business and grow a successful business. I thought outside of the box and disrupted the gas station. We were one of the first in the country to start mobile fueling for some of the largest clients in the world.

What piece of advice would you have for current Curry College student-athletes? Push yourself on and off the field and think outside of the box. Take those skills and apply them in the classroom and on the field. I enjoy coaching football as well because you get to think outside of the box.

What is your most fond memory of Curry College Athletics? During my sophomore year, we had an amazing season with a huge comeback victory on Homecoming, but the memory of the brotherhood with football and having those friends to this day.

What would you say were your greatest athletic and academic accomplishments at Curry College? I never played football before coming to Curry. I stared as a manager, made the team, and then coached college football. Academically, I was blessed with Professor Sinnott and the entire communication department for making me an amazing public speaker and great leader who can communicate correctly and successfully.

Why did you choose Curry College? I transferred from the University of Tampa to a smaller environment and to be able to have amazing internships around the Boston area, more specifically in sports.
