Corvese, Grogan, and Mrozek Collect CCC Football Weekly Awards

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – Three Curry College football student-athletes have been honored as the Commonwealth Coast Football Players of the Week. Senior captain Alex Corvese (Cranston, R.I.) was named the Offensive Player of the Week. Senior captain Steven Grogan (Forestdale, Mass.) brought home Defensive Player of the Week honors while junior Marc Mrozek (Stratford, Conn.) collected Special Teams Player of the Week honors. The trio helped the Colonels defeat Nichols 46-16 on Saturday afternoon to help move Curry to 6-1 overall and 2-0 in conference play.

Corvese is this week's Offensive Player of the Week after the senior quarterback accounted for five touchdowns, throwing for 250 yards on 17-for-32 (53.1 percent) passing with four of those attempts going for scores. He also picked up a touchdown on the ground and rushed for 13 yards.

Grogan earned Defensive Player of the Week accolades after he played a huge part of a Curry defense that held Nichols to 16 points in a 46-16 conference win. He recorded eight tackles (seven solo, one assisted) including on sack for a loss of 10. He also forced a fumble in the contest.

He also tossed a two-point conversion pass giving him 10 points in the contest. Mrozek also punted five times in game averaging 39.6 yards per punt. He also limited the return game with four of his punts being fair caught and one going for a touchback.
