Rogers-Reed Named to NEFW Division II/III All-Star Team

MANCHESTER, N.H. – Curry College senior defensive lineman Parrish Rogers-Reed (Westfield, Mass.) has been chosen by the New England Football Writers (NEFW) as a 2014 Division II/III All-Star. Earlier this month, Rogers-Reed was named as the New England Football Conference (NEFC) Defensive Player of the Year.

Twenty-eight players representing 18 different schools were named to the All-New England team. Massachusetts State College Athletic Conference member Worcester State University led the team with three selections. Northeast-10 Conference members American International College and Bentley University had two picks, as did Eastern Collegiate Football Conference title winner Husson University, Massachusetts State College Athletic Conference champion Framingham State University, New England Football Conference champ MIT, New England Small College Athletic Conference winner Amherst College, and Springfield College.  Also named to the squad were players from Assumption College, Bridgewater State University, Castleton State College, Curry College, Endicott College, Mount Ida College, the University of New Haven, Stonehill College, Trinity College, Wesleyan University, and WPI.

The Division II Northeast-10 Conference had seven players selected, while from Division III the Massachusetts State College Athletic Conference had six picks, while the New England Football Conference, the New England Small College Athletic Conference and the Eastern Collegiate Football Conference had four picks each. Three players came from Springfield College and WPI which are not affiliated with a New England conference.

The team will be honored at the New England Football Writers Captains and Awards Banquet on Thursday, December 11, at the Montvale Plaza, in Stoneham, Mass. People interested in attending should contact Dick Lipe at Bentley University at 781-891-2334.
