CURRY NOTCHES COME-FROM-BEHIND 19-7 HOMECOMING WIN OVER SALVE REGINA
MILTON, Mass. – Senior linebacker Scott Driscoll (North Andover, Mass.) made three fourth-quarter interceptions and Curry sacked Salve Regina quarterback Jeff St. Onge (Kingston, N.H.) seven times as the host Colonels notched a come-from-behind 19-7 Homecoming win over the visiting Seahawks. Curry (3-2) won its third game in a row and remained unbeaten (2-0) in New England Football Conference (NEFC) Boyd Division play. Salve Regina fell to 2-3 overall and 1-1 in the NEFC Boyd Division.

The Seahawks scored the only points of the first half, and their only points on the day, by capping off a seven-play, 80-yard drive with a 23-yard pass from St. Onge to senior wide receiver Ben Hall (Conway, N.H.) with 5:46 remaining in the second quarter.
Salve's 7-0 edge held until late in the third frame when the Colonels finally dented the scoreboard on a 33-yard field goal by junior Matt Alksninis (Mansfield, Mass.). Curry trimmed the lead to 7-6 five minutes later on another Alksninis boot, this time from 28 yards out, and took the lead for good with 10:03 remaining in the game when freshman running back Bruce Vieira (Pelham, N.H.) scampered home from 19 yards out.
Salve Regina was repeated stifled on offense in the second half, as the Colonels recorded six of their seven sacks over the final 30 minutes. The last of Driscoll's three picks came with three seconds left in the game, when he stepped in front of a pass by freshman running back Trey Scales (Boston, Mass.) that was intended for St. Onge. Driscoll ran 10 yards for the touchdown that accounted for the 19-7 final.
For Curry, senior running back Jamaal Woods (Malden, Mass.) rushed for a game-high 130 yards on 18 carries, while Vieira collected 93 yards on 17 carries. Senior quarterback Zach Cavanaugh (Marshfield, Mass.) finished 7-of-18 for 77 yards. On defense, sophomore cornerback Chris Haddad (Bellingham, Mass.) led his team with seven tackles (all solo). The Colonels got three sacks from junior defensive tackle Sean Pike (Sudbury, Mass.), and two each from senior defensive tackle Eddie Owens-Finch (Lynn, Mass.) and senior nose tackle Curtis Ushry (Brockton, Mass.).
For Salve Regina, St. Onge completed 16-of-32 passes for 170 yards with two interceptions. Hall caught five passes for 81 yards. On defense, senior linebacker Nolan McGarrity (Verona, N.J.) notched a game-high 16 tackles (12 solo), while sophomore linebacker Shane Lange (Branford, Conn.) chipped in with six solo tackles and an interception.
Curry is back in action next Saturday with a 5 p.m. clash at M.I.T., while Salve Regina visits Nichols in a contest scheduled for 2:15 p.m.
