Kate Joyce ‘19 Named Head Coach of Curry Cheerleading

MILTON, Mass. - The Curry College Department of Athletics is pleased to announce the hiring of Kate Joyce ‘19 as its next head cheerleading coach.

Joyce began her coaching career in her hometown with Pembroke Youth Cheerleading in 2010. She then assisted at EDGE Cheerleading, a private summer camp for high school cheer teams in Raleigh, N.C. Her most recent coaching role was as a volunteer assistant coach for Curry in the 2021-22 academic year.

Joyce brings 17 years of her own cheerleading experience into the role, including youth, all-star, and, most recently, collegiately for the Colonels. As the team captain during the 2018-19 academic year, Joyce led Curry to the National Cheerleaders Association Intermediate All-Girl Division III National Championship.

“I am thrilled for the opportunity to take on the head coaching role,” said Joyce. “As an athlete, then assistant coach, and now head coach, this program means so much to me. I am excited to share my love for cheerleading and Curry with this program. I would like to thank the Curry Cheer family for welcoming me back into the position, former head coach Nicole Lombardi for years of guidance, and Athletic Director Eruzione for giving me this opportunity.”

Joyce graduated from Curry with a degree in nursing in 2019. While at Curry, Joyce also served as president of the Peer Assisted Learning Mentor Program and was a member of the Student Nursing Association.

“We are very excited to announce Kate Joyce as our new cheerleading coach,” said Curry Director of Athletics Vinnie Eruzione. “A former cheerleader, supporter, and volunteer assistant coach, our program could not be in better hands. Kate has a great understanding of the College, and her commitment to the cheerleading program is unmatched.”
