
MILTON, Mass. - Curry College defeated the Wentworth Institute of Technology 6-5 in a Conference of New England baseball game Wednesday afternoon at Jack Vallely Diamond.
With the win, the Colonels' overall record improves to 8-12 and an even 4-4 in conference.
After going down 1-0 in the top of the fifth, the Curry offense kicked into gear, scoring three runs in the bottom of the inning on three hits and one error. Tommy Marshall scored two on a single to right field while Erik Leonard hit a double off the wall in left-center to score the third run.
The Colonels tacked on three more runs off four hits in the bottom of the seventh, starting with an RBI single to right field by George Calderon. Devin Grove drove in another run off an RBI single later in the inning with the final Curry run scoring on a passed ball to give the Colonels a 6-2 advantage.
Drew Fagala earned the win, pitching 4.1 innings with one earned run, while Mike Riordan took over in the ninth to earn the save.
Curry College returns to action for a home doubleheader against Endicott beginning at 1 p.m.
