Baseball Splits Doubleheader with Hartford

WEST HARTFORD, Conn. - Curry College split a doubleheader against Conference of New England opponent the University of Hartford, losing game one 10-4 and winning game two 3-2 Sunday afternoon at Fiondella Field

With today's game, the Colonels slide to a record of 7-12 overall and 3-4 in conference play.

GAME ONE: Hartford 10, Curry 4

The Colonels scored one run in four different innings, starting with an RBI single by Kyle Doolin to put Curry on the board in the top of the third. The Colonels scored another run off an error in the top of the fifth while Erik Leonard drove in another in the top of the seventh. A sacrifice fly from Michael Desroches in the eighth closed out scoring for the Colonels.

Doolin finished 3-for-5 throughout the game, scoring once while driving in one run. Devin Grove went 2-for-3 with a double.

GAME TWO: Curry 3, Hartford 2

Trailing 1-0 heading into the top of the seventh inning, Brandon Polanco ripped a triple down the left field line to score the Colonels' first run, tying the game at 1-1. Bobby Marshall then hit a two-run home run in just his eighth at-bat of the season to put Curry on top 3-1.

Jack Keane earned the win on the mound for the Colonels, pitching 3.1 innings with one strikeout and one earned run. Colin Botehlo came in with one out in the ninth to close out the game and earn the save.

Curry College returns to action on Monday, April 7th, for a non-conference matchup against Anna Maria beginning at 3 p.m.
