Colonels Stopped by Salve

NEWPORT, RI. - The Curry College Baseball team fell to Commonwealth Coast Conference opponent Salve Regina University by a final score of 13-2 on the road Tuesday afternoon.

With the loss, Curry moves to 8-15 overall on the season and 3-5 in the CCC.

The hosting Seahawks notched nine runs in the opening three innings to take a substantial lead over the visiting Colonels.

Curry's first run came in the top of the fifth, junior George Calderon (New York, N.Y.) singling to center field to push Conor Hanlon in to score, bringing the score to 9-1 in favor of the hosts.

With the bases loaded in the top of the sixth, Curry's Anderson Hart (Norwell, Mass.) tallied a ground out to third while sending Julian Jaume (Staten Island, N.Y.) to home, notching the Colonels' second run of the afternoon.

With no additional runs from Curry College, the afternoon conference matchup fell in favor of the hosting Salve Regina Regina Seahawks 13-2.

Curry will be back in action on Thursday afternoon as they host Eastern Nazarene for a non-conference matchup set for 3 PM.
