WENHAM, Mass. - Curry College Baseball was swept by CCC opponent Gordon College Saturday afternoon in a conference doubleheader on J. Tec White Field.
With the losses, the Colonels dip to 12-21 overall and 2-11 in the conference.
Game 1 Result: Curry 6, Gordon 9
The Colonels struck first in game one of the afternoon doubleheader, Joan Peralta (Brooklyn, N.Y.) marking a two-RBI double to left-center, batting in Conor Hanlon (Beverly, Mass.) and Jared Keller () to put the Colonels up 2-0 in the top of the second. Curry's Julian Jaume (Staten Island, N.Y.) pushed two more batters in to score on a two-RBI single.
The Gordon College Fighting Scots tied the match at four runs apiece with a three-run homer to right field. Gordon took the lead in the following inning with a grand slam down the right-field line, giving the Fighting Scots a four-run lead.
Curry's Ryan Goonan (Raynham, Mass.) closed in on the hosts' lead with a two-RBI single to right-center in the top of the fifth, however, the Colonels would be held at six runs through the duration of the first matchup while allowing one additional run in the bottom of the eighth, falling to Gordon College by a final score of 9-6.
Game 2 Result: Curry 0, Gordon 10
The Fighting Scots took an early lead in the second matchup of the afternoon marking two RBI singles and a sacrifice fly RBI in the bottom of the second, grabbing a 3-0 lead over the Colonels.
Gordon College kept their bats alive in the bottom of the fourth, tallying six runs on five hits, pushing their lead to 9-0.
An RBI single up the middle from Gordon's CJ Demers batted in Dalton Cody for the game-winning run, closing the conference matchup at 10-0 in favor of the hosts.
The Colonels get back out on the field Tuesday (5/3) as they travel to face Roger Williams University for a conference matchup slated for 3:30 PM.
