Summer Spotlight - Donovan Potemri

Summer Spotlight - Donovan Potemri

MILTON, Mass. – Curry College Athletics has announced the implementation of the Summer Spotlight series, which will feature profiles of returning student-athletes and coaches across the Colonels' 14 NCAA Division III programs.

We continue the series with Donovan Potemri (Avon, Mass.), a rising sophomore from our baseball program:

How did you get into your sport? My brothers and I have all played since we were about three years old.

Why did you choose Curry? It's both close to home and makes me feel at home. I love it here.

What hobbies do you have outside your sport? Fishing, playing video games, writing, and golfing.

Are you involved in other activities on the Curry campus? If so, explain. I dedicate so much time to baseball and my studies that I haven't been able to explore much. I would like in the future, though.

What is your dream job? I want to be a high school English teacher.

What is your greatest sports moment? Winning my high school's first tournament game in almost a decade my junior year.

What is your favorite thing to do off the playing surface with your teammates? Extendo table at the Student Center. Thirty guys around one dinner table can get interesting.

Interesting fact about yourself? I was a pretty good switch hitter up until high school, but my coach wasn't too fond of the idea, so I stopped.

Three things on your "bucket list"? 1. Visit all 30 Major League Baseball (MLB) parks, 2. Run the Boston Marathon, and 3. Visit Ireland.

Do you have any pregame/pre-event rituals? If so, what are they? I always drink two glasses of milk before games. I don't know why. Baseball players are weird.
