Senior Reflection: Jared Keller - Baseball

Senior Reflection: Jared Keller - Baseball

MILTON, Mass. – Following the cancellation of the spring seasons due to the COVID-19 pandemic, including Senior Days, the Curry College Athletic Department wanted to give the senior student-athletes time to reflect on their career with the Colonels.

We continue our Senior Reflection web series and today we have Jared Keller (Oxford, Conn.) from the baseball program:

Major: Criminal Justice

Favorite Thing About Your Sport: My favorite thing about playing baseball is competing. Going head-to-head with the pitcher on the mound, knowing that the best man will come out on top.

Favorite Moment on the Field With the Colonels: My favorite moment on the field was either every time that we beat Salve Regina or last season when we played Wentworth at Campanelli Stadium. Beating Salve is a great feeling, but against Wentworth last year, I feel like our whole team clicked and we were just out there having fun.

What Being a Student-Athlete Has Taught You: Being a student-athlete has taught me how to maintain a good work ethic. Also, learning how to feed off of the energy and motivation of the guys around you to help propel you to the next level.

What You'll Miss Most About Your Team, Curry, and Being a Student-Athlete: I will miss being with the guys every day. I miss the behind-the-scenes work: the morning workouts, the running after practice. I miss it all. Our team was like a family. We did everything together, whether it was grabbing a meal at the "Stu" (the Student Center) or hanging out in the suite. We were always together.

Plans Post-Graduation and How Being a Student-Athlete Has Prepared You For Your Future Career Goals: Following my tenure at Curry College, I plan on enlisting in the Army. I have been a part of a team my entire life, so I feel like it has prepared me for this next chapter of my life. I will also be pursuing a master's degree.

What Advice You Would Give to Future Colonel Student-Athletes: To all future Colonel student-athletes: enjoy every moment of it. Don't take anything for granted because one day it's all going to be over and you don't want to have any regrets. Don't take any reps off, work hard, and build a bond with your teammates. I never thought I'd miss hearing Coach Rusty yell "get on the line" when the whole team is already gassed, but right now I'd do anything to get moments like that back.
