WALTHAM, Mass. - In the first ever meeting between the Brandeis baseball team and Curry College, the Judges won in walk-off fashion, defeating the Colonels, 6-5, in 11 innings. Brandeis improves to 13-15, while Curry falls to 8-23. The Colonels had at least one hit in each of the first nine innings and 16 overall, as they stranded 10 runners on base.

Curry is coached by David Perdios '80, a Brandeis Hall of Famer.

Kyle Brenner and Rob Trenk got the job done in extra innings. Brenner led off the 11th with a double, and after an intentional walk, Trenk laid down a sacrifice bunt. The throw to first bounced past the covering second baseman, allowing Brenner to score the winning run.

Brenner earned the win on the mound (4-4), pitching 3.1 innings of scoreless relief. Vincent LoPriore allowed the lone unearned run in two innings of relief for the Colonels, falling to 1-4.

Curry struck first, picking up an unearned run in the top of the third. That was all they would get off of Colin Markel, who allowed eight hits and just the one unearned run in six innings.

The Judges appeared to break the game open in the fifth inning, scoring five times. With one out, Ryan Tettemer singled to right and stole second. After a single by Trenk moved Tettemer to third, Sam Miller drove him home with a single of his own.

Brian Ing gave Brandeis the lead with a two-out double, scoring Miller and Trenk. Connor Doyle plated Ing with a double down the left field line, and Tom McCarthy capped off the frame with an RBI single.

Curry tied the game up in the top of the eighth. John Arens reached second base on a Brandeis error, then scored on a single by Tanner Givens. With two runners on, Nick Crivello blasted a three-run home run to left field to knot the score at five apiece.

The Judges had a runner on second base in the eighth inning, and both teams hit into double plays to erase threats in the ninth. Curry left two runners on in both the 10th and 11th innings, setting things up for Brandeis' winner in the 11th.

Eight different Brandeis batters had a hit, and six different players scored. McCarthy and Miller had two hits apiece, while Tettemer stole two bases. Four different Colonels had three hits: R.J. McCann, Arens, Crivello and Alex McLean.

The Judges hit the road to take on Daniel Webster on Thursday. Curry travels to Framingham St. on Friday.
