BABSON PARK, Mass.—Junior Sean MacPhee (Framingham, Mass.) homered twice and drove in five runs while classmate Nick Malatos (Milton, Mass.) tossed eight shutout innings, helping Babson College cruise past visiting Curry College, 12-0, in non-conference baseball action on Wednesday afternoon at Govoni Field.

With the win, Babson is now 10-10 on the year, while Curry drops to 6-17.

Junior Dillon Gonzalez (Beverly, Mass.) went 3-for-5 with a double, two runs scored and two RBI on the day to pace the Beavers' 12-hit attack. Sophomore Shea Rosadino (Devon, Pa.) and first-year Owen Shea (Northborough, Mass.) both drove in a pair of runs in the win.

Sophomore Philip Perez (West Covina, Calif.) had two hits on the afternoon for the Colonels.

After Malatos worked out of a first and second one-out jam in the top of the first, Babson grabbed the lead in the bottom of the frame. Gonzalez led off with a double, moved to third on a sacrifice bunt by senior Brendan Collins (Abington, Mass.), and came in to score when MacPhee reached on an error.

After being retired in order in the second, the Beavers extended their lead with a three-run third. Gonzalez and Collins hit back-to-back singles through the left side and Gonzalez moved to third on a fly out to center by first-year Jack Halpin (Glastonbury, Conn.) and later came home on a double steal to make it 2-0. MacPhee then blasted his first home run over the season to right center to make it four-run game.

The Green and White loaded the bases to start the fourth as sophomore George Crowley (Watertown, Mass.) walked, junior Joe Zanca (Braintree, Mass.) singled to left, and Shea reached on a bunt. Rosadino followed with a two-run single to right center, plating Crowley and Zanca, and Shea came home one batter later on a sacrifice fly by Gonzalez to make it 7-0.

Babson put the game away for good with five more runs in the bottom of the seventh. MacPhee followed a single by senior Sean Lanahan (Avon, Conn.) by blasting his second homer of the day, and Shea later plated a pair of runs with a two-out single to center. Gonzalez then capped the inning with a two-out single up the middle to score Shea with the final run of the game.

The 12-run outburst was more than enough for Malatos (2-1), who allowed just four hits to go along with four strikeouts and three walks while lowering his season-ERA to 0.87. First-year John Russolillo (Georgetown, Mass.) worked a perfect ninth inning to finish off the Green and White's second shutout of the year.

First-year Mike Reiher (Ramsey, N.J.), one of five pitchers used by the Colonels on the day, took the loss, allowing just an unearned run while striking out two over two innings. Junior Tanner Givens (Hamden, Conn.) also tossed two hitless innings in relief.

Babson returns to action on Thursday when it hosts UMass-Boston at 3:30 p.m., while Curry will travel to Western New England on Saturday for a doubleheader starting at 12 p.m. (Recap courtesy of Babson Sports Information)
