Bates (15-12) erased an early 1-0 Curry lead with six runs on six hits in the third inning, including a triple by Kevin McGregor and a two-run home run by Griff Tewksbury, his third of the season.
McGregor doubled to lead off the fifth inning and scored on a single by Tewksbury, opening the floodgates on Bates' biggest inning this season. Rockwell Jackson drove in two runs with a single, and Steve Burke also had an RBI single before McGregor came up again to score Ryan Sonberg with a single. Mike Ciummei and Alex Parker drew walks to load the bases, and Jeffrey Gunn cleared them with a three-run double for a 16-1 Bates lead.
Curry (10-18) came back with six runs in the top of the sixth inning, including a bases-loaded walk by Derek Pizarro and a two-run double by R.J. McCann, but Bates scored two more in both the sixth and seventh innings to make it 20-7.
Matt Rodriguez went 3-for-5 for Curry, while McCann and Pizarro drove in two runs apiece.
Seven players had multiple hits for Bates, including two mid-game substitutions in Burke and Kevin Davis. Tewksbury and Gunn drove in three runs apiece, while McGregor and Sonberg were both 3-for-5.
Bates starter Mike Antonellis rose to 2-2, working 5.1 innings and allowing four runs (one earned) while striking out five. Aidan Sullivan threw 2.2 innings of relief and also struck out five batters, and Dillon Dresser threw a scoreless ninth inning in his collegiate debut.
Travis Levesque (0-1) took the loss for Curry after throwing for three innings.
Bates plays a nine-inning game at the University of Maine tomorrow at 5pm. Curry plays at Rhode Island College on Thursday at 3:30.
