MILTON, Mass. – The Curry College athletic department and its student-athletes strive to be great both on and off the field. A key component to that goal is giving back to the Curry College Community and beyond.
Citizenship and responsibility are Division III attributes. Student-athletes giving back not only adds to the comprehensive learning component of Division III, but also provides a venue for passion and service. As part of Division III Week, we would like to showcase the efforts Colonels have made on the local community.
Division III Week is a positive opportunity for all individuals associated with Division III to observe and celebrate the impact of athletics and of student-athletes on the campus and surrounding community. During the week, every Division III school and conference office is encouraged to conduct a type of outreach activity that falls into one of three categories: academic accomplishment; athletic experience; or leadership/community service/campus involvement.
"At Curry, from the very first day we recruit student-athletes to become Colonels, they understand the importance of giving back to the community; both on campus and off," said Athletic Director Vinnie Eruzione. "Whether it's helping with first-year student move-in, a campus clean-up, or volunteering with many different organizations across the town of Milton and beyond, our student-athletes realize that helping others is a central part of being a Colonel. Our involvement with Team IMPACT, the Special Olympics, Milton Foundation for Education, local hospitals, and many cancer-related organizations over the years means a lot to our athletic department staff, coaches, and students. I'm extremely proud of all of our teams and how truly selfless all of our student-athletes are."
