MILTON, Mass. - Curry College was defeated 3-1 by Emmanuel College in a Conference of New England women's volleyball match Wednesday afternoon at Dr. Eleanor Meyerhoff Katz Gymnasium.
With the loss, the Colonels fall to an overall record of 1-21 and a conference record of 0-6.
Curry picked up its fifth set victory of the season with a 25-20 win in the second set. The Colonels jumped out to an early 5-1 lead thanks to a pair of kills by Kyah Earls (San Francisco, Calif.). From there, Emmanuel battled back into the set, with the score going back and forth until a five-point run late in the set with kills from Earls and Abby Sousa (Seekonk, Mass.) ended the second with Curry on top.
Earls was on fire for the Colonels, finishing with a game-high 19 kills on a .375 kill percentage and eight digs. Jasmyne Fillippini (Plymouth, Mass.) and Sousa each had 11 set assists while Emma Hobart (Le Roy, N.Y.) finished with a team-high nine digs.
Curry College returns to action on Friday, November 1st, with a home match against Endicott beginning at 6 p.m.
