MILTON, Mass. - Curry College was defeated in three straight sets by the University of New England in a Conference of New England women's volleyball match Wednesday night at Dr. Eleanor Meyerhoff Katz Gymnasium. Set scores were 25-18, 25-7, and 25-13.
With the loss, the Colonels fall to an overall record of 1-14 and a conference record of 0-3.
Curry played a competitive first set, jumping out to an early 7-3 lead off the back of service aces from Sonja Matheson (Voluntown, Conn.) and Olivia DeForest (Plymouth, Mass.). After giving up the lead the Colonels never quit, battling back to tie the score at 16-16 off a kill from Kyah Earls (San Francisco, Calif.). Despite the home team's efforts, the Nor'easters managed to win the set and take the match in three sets.
Earls led the squad with eight kills and six digs while Nadia Dutton (Rockland, Mass.) also finished with six digs. Emma St. Cyr (Dover, N.H.) led the Colonels with eight assists.
Curry College returns to action on Saturday, October 12th, with a non-conference match against Fitchburg State beginning at 11 a.m.
