LEXINGTON, Mass. - Curry College picked up its first win of the season with a 3-0 sweep over Lesley University in a non-conference women's volleyball match at Minuteman Tech.
With the win, the Colonels improve to an overall record of 1-13 while remaining 0-2 in conference play.
After winning sets one and two 25-16 and 25-22, the Colonels dominated the third, winning the final set 25-7 to pick up its first victory of the year. Curry bounced out to an impressive 12-0 lead to start off the third set, a run that included four service aces by Jasmyne Fillippini (Plymouth, Mass.). Later in the set, a kill by Morgan Muscato (Plymouth, Mass.) gave the Colonels a 20-3 lead, while a final kill by Jenna Cotter (Watertown, Mass.) closed out the game for good.
Meghan Abbott (Stoughton, Mass.) and Kyah Earls (San Francisco, Calif.) led all players with seven kills while Emma St. Cyr (Dover, N.H.) dished out a game-high 14 assists. Nadia Dutton (Rockland, Mass.) was also a stat leader with 11 digs. Olivia DeForest (Plymouth, Mass.) was another major contributor with four service aces.
Curry College returns to Conference of New England play on Wednesday, October 9th, with a home match against the University of New England beginning at 6 p.m.
