Milton, MA - The Curry College Women's Tennis team picked up their first win of the season on Sunday, defeating Husson 6-3. With the win the Colonels move to 1-5 on the season, while Husson is now 0-2.
The Colonels fell behind early, dropping two of the three doubles matches. But a win by the #1 doubles team of Ella Hurley and Serena Wilson kept the Colonels in it. They won that match 8-5, to make it 2-1 Husson headed into the singles matches. Serena Wilson won in three sets (6-3, 4-6, 6-3), while Grace Coopee (7-6, 6-4), Cayla Osowski (6-4, 7-6), Kaitlyn Foster (6-3, 6-3), and Sam Ferrara (7-5, 6-3) all won in straight sets.
In the singles matches, the Colonels were able to take care of business, winning five of the six matches.
The win snaps a 24-match losing streak for the Colonels, as their last win came against Suffolk on October 15, 2022.
Up next - The Colonels will look to keep the momentum going when they travel to Western New England on Tuesday.
