Women’s Tennis Tops Suffolk University

MILTON, Mass. - The Curry College women's tennis team marked a 7-2 win over Commonwealth Coast Conference opponent Suffolk University Saturday afternoon on the Trent J. Scott Tennis Courts.

With the win, Curry improves to 1-11 on the season and 1-6 in the CCC.

The Colonels won two of the three doubles matches to take the early lead in the match. At first doubles, Alexandra Borkov (Newton, Mass.) and Sophia Wiernusz (Collegeville, Pa.) picked up a convincing 8-3 win, while sophomore Grace Coopee (Hampden, Mass.) and sophomore Cayla Osowski (Westfield, Mass.) won 8-2 at third doubles.

In singles play, Curry College continued to control the match, coming out on top in five of the six matches to secure the victory at home. Borkov dominated at first singles, marking a 6-1, 6-1 win, while Wiernusz sealed the second singles win on a third-set victory (6-1, 3-6, 6-2).

At third singles, Serena Wilson (Windsor, Conn.) grabbed a win for the Colonels with a score of 6-3, 6-2. Curry's Grace Coopee and Esme Lehner (Annapolis, Md.) each won at fifth and sixth singles respectively to close out the conference victory.

Curry will be back on the courts on Thursday as host non-conference opponent Eastern Nazarene on the Trent J. Scott Tennis Courts at 3:30 p.m.
