Women's Tennis Downed by Gordon College

WENHAM, Mass. - The Curry College women's tennis team suffered a 6-3 defeat at the hands of Gordon College Wednesday afternoon in Commonwealth Coast Conference action at the Brigham Athletic Complex.

With the defeat, Curry drops to 0-11 overall on the season and 0-6 in the CCC.

All three doubles matches were tight, but Curry's lone win came at the third flight. The sophomore tandem of Serena Wilson (Windsor, Conn.) and Samantha Ferrara (Brewster, N.Y.) prevailed by a score of 8-5.

In singles play, Gordon clinched the match with wins at positions one through four, but the Colonels were victorious at fifth and sixth singles. Ferrara got the job done at fifth singles by a score of 6-2, 0-6, 6-0, while freshman Esme Lehmer (Annapolis, Md.) blanked her opponent 6-0, 6-0 at number six.

Curry will close out conference play on Saturday afternoon, hosting Suffolk University for its Homecoming match at the Trent J. Scott '96 Tennis Courts. First serves are slated for 12 p.m.
