Women's Tennis Comes Up Short Against Salve Regina

NEWPORT, R.I. - The Curry College women's tennis team fell short by a final score of 7-2 to Salve Regina University Friday afternoon in Commonwealth Coast Conference at the Salve Regina Tennis Courts.

With the defeat, Curry moves to 0-8 overall on the season and 0-3 in the CCC. 

Both of Curry's wins came at the number one positions in both singles and doubles.

At first doubles, senior Sophia Wiernusz (Collegeville, Pa.) and junior Sasha Borkov (Newton, Mass.) teamed up for a tightly contested 8-6 win.

Borkov finished off the sweep in singles with a 6-0, 6-4 win at the top flight.

Curry will turn around quickly, hosting Nichols College on Saturday afternoon. First serves from the Trent J. Scott '96 Tennis Courts are slated for 12 p.m.
