Women's Tennis Falls to Roger Williams in CCC Opener

MILTON, Mass. - The Curry College women's tennis team fell 9-0 to Roger Williams University Wednesday afternoon in Commonwealth Coast Conference action at the Trent J. Scott '96 Tennis Courts.

With the defeat, Curry falls to 0-3 overall on the season, and begins the conference campaign with a mark of 0-1.

Roger Williams started the day with a clean sweep of doubles play, winning all three matches by a score of 8-0.

The Hawks continued to roll in singles play to finish off the shutout win. The closest match came at first singles, where senior Sophia Wiernusz (Collegeville, Pa.) fought to the last point before falling 6-1, 6-3.

The Colonels will turn around quickly to travel to UMass Boston for their first away match of the season on Thursday afternoon. First serves are slated for 3 p.m.
