Women's Tennis Downs Mount Ida College, 8-1

MILTON, Mass. – The Curry College women's tennis team won all three doubles matches and five out of six singles matches to take an 8-1 win against the Mustangs of Mount Ida College at the Big Nine Courts on Friday afternoon. 

With the win the Colonels improve to 3-6 on the season, while the Mustangs fall to 1-3 overall.

The one victory for Mount Ida came at the No. 1 singles spot when player, Rebecca Levy (Plymouth, Mass.) won her match 6-1, 6-0 against Kayla Prete (Orange, Conn.).  The Colonel's No. 2 singles player Kimberly Love (Windsor Locks, Conn.) outlasted Jenna Jarman (Auburn, Mass.) , 6-4, 10-9. In No. 3 singles, the Mustangs Katlyn Jesse (Marshfield, Mass.) was bested by Hannah Erickson (Mount Desert, Maine), 6-2, 6-0. Laura Ferris (Shelton, Conn.) earned the No. 4 singles win for Curry, 6-0, 6-1 by defeating Denise Romero (Hartford, Conn.). The Colonel's Katelyn Harrington (Westport, Mass.) claimed her tilt verse Yuliana Chairez (Waltham, Mass.), 6-1, 6-1 and at the No. 6 position Curry's Alex Moschetto (Hampton Falls, N.H.) defeated Mount Ida's Danielle Barnabe (Warwick, R.I.), 6-0, 6-1.

In doubles, the No.1 pair Prete and Love earned an 8-3 victory over the Mustangs No. 1 pair Levy and Jarman.  The No. 2 duo of Erickson and Harrington bested Mount Ida's Jesse and Romero, 8-0.  In the final match on the day, No.3 Colonel's doubles partners, Ferris and Gabriella Tedeschi (East Greenwich, R.I.) outlasted Chairez and Gabriella Barnabe, 8-2.

The Colonels return to action tomorrow at noon when they host CCC opponent Wentworth.  The Mustangs also return to action tomorrow when they host Anna Maria in a 12:00 match.
